Many different activities are open to visitors here. Of course, Lake Placid and its many activities is only an eight-minute drive away. Hiking trails are everywhere and well-marked, with convenient parking areas just off the main roads. Many of the ponds and lakes in the area are stocked by local hatcheries, providing excellent fishing. For snowmobile enthusiasts, the state keeps several local groomed snowmobile trails, which can be accessed right from our motel. Local stables make horseback riding another possibility for an afternoon event. And bird watchers: the Adirondacks have a wealth of species for you to observe and admire. Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Lake Placid have many exciting attractions that are just minutes away from our motel. Be sure to take advantage of these many opportunities!

Titus Mountain - Ski Titus Mountain and experience the majestic beauty of an Adirondack Winter.

ORDA - Ski jumping at the MacKsenzie-Intervale Ski Jumping Complex, luge at the Olympic Sports Complex, home to the combined bobsled/luge/skeleton run, the 1980 bobsled track, biathlon range and cross-country trails for both skiers, snowshoers and mountain bikers.

Lake Placid and Saranac Lake Golf Courses, Looking for an opportunity to play some golf in the Lake Placid-Saranac Lake area? There are several courses in and between the two towns. Just ask us for their information.

Pendragon Theatre The Pendragon Theater, is a local center for theatrical productions and draws many fine actors from all over the country. Best of all, it's less than a half-mile from The Ashley!

Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial Cottage, This cottage has been preserved in its original state, with a plethora of mementos from Stevenson's life. (July 1 through September 15 only, closed Mondays. Hours: 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.)

USA Luge, located on Church Street in Lake Placid, is an international center for luge athletes. Visit for the tour and learn more about the Olympic history of Lake Placid.

Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smith's, Paul Smith's College is a local educational institution that specializes in ecological studies. A visit here gives lots of interesting information about the ecology of the Adirondacks, its trail systems; and the Center even has a butterfly house. Tel: 518-327-3000

Saranac Lake Winter Carnival, We have lots of great information on the Winter Carnival, which takes place every February in the park, right across from The Ashley.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Lake Placid offers a treasure in the way of fine arts, and much of it takes place here, at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Enjoy the visual art exhibitions and stage productions, and get acquainted with area artists.
